JEE Main Last 7 Years Paper Analysis

JEE Main has been constantly in pursuit of updating and enhancing the level of the examinations. In general, JEE Main tries to test your understanding of the basic concepts and their applications. However, they come up with some new challenges for you, every year. So, to help you out with this, our team of subject matter experts have come up with the analysis of last 7 years of JEE Main papers, wherein they have analysed about the level of the questions, chapters of all subjects from which most of the questions are generally asked, etc.

When the IIT JEE Main changes 7 years back and decided to come up with two exams theory, i.e.,  JEE Main and JEE Advanced ever since then, the level of the questions asked of all three subjects have been different. Generally, Chemistry is the easiest section to do and there has been a constant competition between Physics and Mathematics sections to come out on top as the difficult sections to attempt. Generally, the questions asked in Physics section are a bit tricky to attempt. So, you must have the absolute understanding of the concepts to attempt most of the question. In Mathematics section, the level of questions varied from moderate to difficult, in almost every year. Of all these three subjects, the questions are generally based on cognitive levels and their difficulty levels, as tabulated below.

Cognitive Level

Knowledge Easy Medium Difficult
Understanding Easy Medium Difficult
Application Easy Medium Difficult
HOTs Easy Medium Difficult

Our team of subject matter experts have analysed the cognitive level of the questions asked in JEE Main exams of all three subjects.  Their analyses are as follows.

Chemistry: In JEE Main, the level of questions in Chemistry generally varies from Knowledge Easy to Application Medium. Major chunk of the questions is based on Knowledge Medium to Application Easy Level. So, it is relatively easier section to attempt and to score great in JEE Main.

Physics: In JEE Main, the level of the questions in Physics generally varies from Knowledge Difficult to Application Difficult. Major chunk of the questions is based on Understanding Easy to Application Difficult Level. Every year, Physics is generally the toughest paper to attempt in JEE Main.

Mathematics: In JEE Main, the level of the questions in Mathematics generally varies from Knowledge Medium to HOTs Easy. Major chunk of the questions is based on Knowledge Difficult to Application Difficult Level. There is competition between Physics and Mathematics papers, for which to be the toughest paper to attempt in JEE Main. Sometimes, Mathematics papers are lengthy, so you have to work your way out.
