  • Boost your JEE Preparation with IIT-JEE Foundation Series

In India, to be an IIT graduate or an IIT student is momentous. It is a steppingstone for many engineering aspirants. These institutes are built to offer a competitive learning environment and a bright future to their students. Every year, over a million students in India take IIT entrance exams. Even though there are limited seats, the enthusiasm is the same every single year.

Let’s learn a bit more about one of the most competitive exams in India

IIT is the Indian Institute of Technology that was founded in 1951. The first IIT college to be inaugurated was IIT Kharagpur. Even though the inauguration of the first IIT was in 1956, the term ‘Indian Institute of Technology’ was adopted back in 1951.  As of 2021, there are 23 IITs across the nation. These institutes are declared as Institutes of National Importance by the government.

These IITs have undergraduate students as well as postgraduate students. The majority of students pursue Ph.D. and master’s programs, as explained in an interview by V Ram Gopal Rao, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi director.

What is the process for IIT preparation?

IIT JEE is the national-level competitive exam that selects candidates for these reputed IITs. The JEE preparation is divided into two stages: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Any student who is appearing for class 12th or has cleared class 12th is eligible to appear for JEE Main.

JEE Main, the first of the two stages, determines your qualification for the appearance of JEE Advanced. The results of the second stage of the exam determine your future in the IITs. You can also get admissions in B.Tech/BE courses in reputed institutes across India on your JEE Main rank.

It is important to keep an eye on the eligibility criteria every year before you appear for the exams as they tend to change after a certain period of time.

When is it ideal to start preparing for IIT entrance exams?

As it is rightfully said, "The early bird catches the worm". And in IIT, the earlier the better. Up until a few years ago, the students would start preparing for the IIT entrance exams during their classes in the 11th and 12th. Then, with the rise in competition and academic patterns, it was considered to be in the best interest of students to start preparing for IIT from class 8th.

Presently, with the progression in the education system, you can start preparing for IIT as early as 6th grade. The goal is to not just prepare you for the IIT exams. You can also appear for other competitive exams like GMAT, Olympiads, National Talent Search Examination, etc.

Physics, chemistry, and mathematics are the primary subjects covered in the IIT exams. These subjects are vast, and it is best to start learning them at the early stages of your academics.

A good JEE score can also land you the opportunity to apply to other prestigious non-IIT colleges if you do not secure admission into the IITs. The focus of these entrance exams is to select the best. But apart from IITs, you have many other options to explore. Either way, it is best to start preparing as early as class 6th.

What are the best IIT foundation books?

Apart from bringing in daily habitual changes to prepare yourself for the country's toughest competitive exams, there are some of the best IIT foundation books for each class, from 6th to 10th, that you must consider getting your hands on.

Aside from NCERT, the other books to consider are the Pearson IIT Foundation series books that provide authentic and tested content for IIT preparation.

    ● Pearson IIT Foundation Series Class 6

Pearson IIT Foundation Series Mathematics and Science includes strong content for beginners that is focused on teaching application-based learning. They have very detailed solutions to questions that encourage you and keep you engaged by making learning easier.

    ● Pearson IIT Foundation Series Class 7

Since PCM is the main subject area in IIT preparation, the Pearson IIT Foundation Series includes Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics books that help you to get started on the right foot.

    ● Pearson IIT Foundation Series Class 8

It is believed class 8 signifies an important transition in a student’s academic life. You become more knowledgeable and aware of their education. To keep up with school academics and simultaneously prepare for IIT, the Pearson IIT Foundation Series for class 8 includes Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry books.

    ● Pearson IIT Foundation Series Class 9 and 10

The last 2 years of school education are crucial. And since, as an IIT aspirant, you have been preparing for the best since class 6, it becomes easier for you to deal with the competitive academic life ahead. Pearson’s IIT Foundation Series for classes 9 and 10 includes PCM books, which are ideal for keeping up with the challenging IIT preparation coming ahead.

Along with coursebooks, Pearson also offers IIT Foundation practice books for classes 7 to 10. These practice books are designed to keep students at par with their school and JEE curriculum. They contain 4 categories of tests which include Chapter Test, Unit Test, Section Test, and Full-length Test.

These practice books include cognitive level questions that are application-based and help to enhance problem-solving skills. The Pearson IIT Foundation Practice books include challenging tests, sample questions, notes, and quick revision point at the end of the chapters.

IIT exams are one of the toughest exams in this country and require wholesome dedication along with accurate knowledge. Study materials are just as important as your attitude toward learning in order to pass the IIT entrance exams. It’s a long journey, but with the right resources, it can be a successful one.

  • 20 Reasons Why Digital Learning is the Future of Education

Conventional education has gone through tremendous changes in the recent past. With the pandemic outbreak, the world witnessed a massive swing in educational methods. Plus, we saw how digital methods came to the rescue. Access to the internet and a smartphone or computer can make education accessible from any corner of the world. E-learning not only benefits students by allowing them to keep learning without interruptions, but also helps educators reach out to students. Furthermore, it helps them excel in their teaching skills too.

Digital learning has changed the core of learning. Students can select from a wide range of credible courses available online. Or even students sitting in classrooms can always rely on digital resources for cohesive, interactive, and blended learning. Digital learning is the future of education. Here are 20 reasons that explain why.

    1. Digital learning enables students and teachers to set their own pace for learning. One can set a schedule that suits their plans and learn at flexible hours.
    2. Digital learning is highly beneficial for working professionals as they can upskill themselves while having a full-time job. Be it a full-time professional or a 6th-grade student, they must always keep evolving. After all, there’s no age limit for learning.
    3. Geographical or language barriers can be tackled with digital learning. Students can continue to access learning materials from any corner of the world and translate them to their preferred language in one click.
    4. E-learning in education gives students multiple subjects. This does not necessarily relate to academic subjects. Students can pursue their interests that go beyond their curriculum.
    5. With online education, it is possible to be the jack of all trades and/or, to be the ace in any preferred discipline.
    6. Digital learning boosts the ability of students to pursue various programs online, manage time for various sessions, and pick up various skills simultaneously.
    7. Due to e-learning, getting official certifications and degrees without physically stepping into a university has become possible.
    8. Digital education can be pursued on the go. Students can do quick revisions, or clear their doubts about their commuting time.
    9. E-learning helps learners modify their learning schedules according to their needs.
    10. The future of education is about interactive learning. Texts alone are not enough. It's a good thing that digital learning gives access to interactive learning through photos, videos, animated tutorials, quizzes, AI learning, etc.
    11. It is extremely easy to take notes online. There are various online tools or extensions available that aid in saving texts and links, which enable students to create their own notes or vocabulary libraries.
    12. Digital learning extends access to various sources of knowledge and educators. One does not need to be limited to one resource. They can explore e-books by various writers and stick with the one that suits their comfort.
    13. Online learning or e-books save students from the trouble of managing their shelves and books. They can simply store all the information on their drive or cloud with e-learning.
    14. Digital learning is cost-effective in many ways. Students save money on books, moving to another location for school or college, accommodation, and other institutional fees.
    15. Everything is only a few clicks away and can be accessed through multiple devices. If a student loses a book, they lose all their notes, solutions, question papers, remarks, etc with it. But in the case of e-books, everything stays put and one can create backups on devices or even online.
    16. Students can access the downloaded material even without internet access. They can enjoy uninterrupted learning at all times.
    17. With digital learning, there has been a hike in the number of available seats or the frequency of courses. More and more students can get access to certifications with this ease.
    18. Students can connect to various teachers, peers, or alumni. They can do so to get guidance and information or to clear their doubts. They can also join online groups and forums to connect with people from their institutes, courses, or seniors.

  • What Is the Concept Of An E-library? How Is It Useful?

A digital library, also known as an e-library, is a collection of documents in an organized digital form, available on the internet or on disks. The purpose of an e-library is to store, access, and manage magazine articles, books, audio files, images, and video files. In the case of e-libraries, various data can be merged easily, which helps keep information up-to-date.

E-libraries offer free copies of books and journals. There are various reasons for creating and using digital libraries. They offer a plethora of resources at your disposal. They also enable greater access to the content and can be managed from various locations. To deep dive into understanding the functionality of an e-library, here we list the advantages of an e-library for you.

    1. Variety of content

Due to physical restraints, traditional libraries lacked the flexibility to include a diverse range of content. On the other hand, digital libraries are able to keep the books alive by also broadening the availability of the content online. It stores a wide range of content in a virtual environment in the form of e-books, PDFs, podcasts, and videos that can be updated and modified according to the user’s needs. Unlike traditional libraries, which have physical constraints, e-libraries can be stored online on a cloud, drive, or hardware.

    2. Availability

There’s no better luxury than having access to knowledge and relevant information pertaining to specific subjects. E-libraries save a lot of time by drawing out relevant resources only through a simple search tab. In the case of a physical library or book, the same could have taken hours. Finding a book in a library can be like finding a needle in a pile of hay. Options like in-built content search options, a few keywords, and title suggestions, would help a user draw relevant resources from the vast range of material available online. Instant availability of these resources helps users save time, prioritize other tasks, and store the found resources for future use.

    3. Technological integration

Since the world is gradually transitioning to digitization, it's important that students- the future generation, are introduced to technology in the early academic stages. They can adapt their skills to prepare them for technological changes. Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak, the usage of e-libraries has been emphasized as it has brought seamless access to reading and study materials with the use of e-libraries. Students not just have access to relevant resources but also gain technological education, which is beneficial in the long run.

Sources like Pearson E-library, offer interactive and top-notch quality learning content to students. They are easy to comprehend and are suitable for students of various academic years. This e-library comprises course books for various disciplines like engineering, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, etc.

    4. Preserve knowledge for future generations

Physical storage devices like CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, and even books and journals are prone to damage. Or, they can be discarded simply because they are not compatible with today’s technologies. Due to this vulnerability, traditional libraries fail to preserve valuable research and studies for generations to come. But thanks to the wonders of the internet, it has become possible to store and access this valuable information on the Cloud, which keeps it a lot more secure. Furthermore, sophisticated security measures also ensure that only authentic users have access to it, so that the data present online isn’t tampered with.

    5. Restores quality of information

It costs a great amount of investment to preserve and conserve library resources in the traditional style. Since readers frequently access and reuse physical library resources, it can be very difficult to prevent the deterioration of books and other resources. Many organizations are moving to digitize their libraries in order to preserve the data and make it available to a large number of users on a consistent basis with minimized physical material preservation.

    6. Accessible to the visually impaired too

Until recently, the visually impaired or individuals with other disabilities have been restricted to sources of information. But e-libraries eliminate these limitations and make resources accessible to them too. By making use of voice-assistant features or read-out features, e-libraries make it easier for the disabled to surf through various resources. With the use of assistive technology, it is now possible to provide an equal amount of knowledge and accessibility to visually impaired students.

As the world is increasingly becoming digitized, e-libraries are emerging as a smarter choice and an economical solution for global use. Digital libraries are not entirely replacing the existence of physical documents but rather enhancing their availability and preservation for the masses. It is critical to stay aligned with the new technologies that will enhance the learning experience for the upcoming generation and boost their skills and confidence in the face of challenges.
